If you have seen "Shutter Island" [Wikipedia] you may have noticed one surprising historical revelation: that it was the american army the one that liberated the concentration camp of Auschwitz. It was always thought that it had been the Red Army, on its way to Berlin, that has discovered and liberated Auschwitz, but Martin Scorsese and his writer Laeta Kalogridis (or maybe the author of the novel on which the film is based, Dennis Lehane).
Irony aside, american media and news corporation have been re-writing recent (and not so recent) history to fit properly with the way things ought to be in the "american way of thinking".
But changing historical facts like this, may be a dangerous step towards the destruction of History as a science, and the creation of history as a production.
