Popular 2.0 Investigation

There has been a big controversy in Spain about a video of a brutal agression shot in Granada by a lawyer and published in Youtube.

"It was after seven o'clock on Sunday 23 when Rafael Alba heard a tremendous commotion in the street. Ten young men threatened three Almeria at the door of a nightclub located on Constitution Avenue in Granada. "Just start the brawl took the camera and started recording. Just then, he started the fight. " Indeed, the largest band began to strike at one of the visitors until they left him lying on the floor. "Another tells Almeria-Rafael, in the video that departs to the left, call the National Police and the third, try to protect him until he also received severe blows. " One of the girls, even shouting "kill him!" while removing the shoe and nailing the heel to the young, immobile in soil.

After the fight, Alba dropped to the street and showed the video to the victims so that they knew they could count on him to denounce their aggressors. "The Almeria told me it was because of jealousy. The boys waited for the police, who arrived minutes later and took a statement from them, like me. However, the police said that if the other party not report, they do not opened proceedings. Then the girls decided to go to the bus station to return to their city".

After the indiference of the police, the lawyer uploaded the video in Youtube asking for help from citizens. The call was answered in forocoches:

"(...) because nothing "forococheros" prefer to do a CSI: investigate someone up and down using its enormous size (the largest Spanish-language Internet forum as big-boards, with more than half a million users) and skills the use of networks of its members. Within hours they had published all sorts of details including the names of the boy white pants, the heels and the rest of the alleged gang members by, among other information, the names you hear on the recording, Tuentis the Facebooks and the suspects and the relationships that these profiles revealed that among them. In other forums Mediavida also assisted in the search, and even created a Facebook event. The comments by the news media also were filled with names. The identified quickly erased their social networking profiles." [Trending Topics]

In various forums, such as the mentioned forocoches, these individuals were identified, eg foromontefrio.com:

"These are the names that are coming from what we hear in the video.

The first cry "MIGUEEEEEL" appears to be Miguel GV cousin, I suposse, of Placido VN.

In the minutes 1.10 and 2.20 you can hear "TEREEEEE", yes, the bitch of the heels. Tere ML.

They are all from the high school IES Nazari, from promotions 2003/2004.

I have not completely certain of this, so I hope q no "donkey" act as subjects in revenge or god knows
." More names appeared in other forums and social networks aquí.

Facebook profiles were retrieved from these individuals (but subsequently canceled) and even the CV of such a plate. The aforementioned forum include full names, not reproduced here because we have always defended the presumption of innocence.

But it is clear that although there is no complaint, and aggression can not go unpunished. Clearly, whatever it is what has happened before, no one can take the law into their own hands. It is clear that lynchings are specific companies (and tribal groups, in this case) in arrears.

Therefore it is surprising and scary that the police did not act in this case until the civil society (in this case through the internet) became an issue for public concern.
