Thousands of pages have been alrady written about 1969's Moon landing. But there has been always the romour that mankind has never really arrived to the Moon [*]. In the USA these theories experienced a big broadcasting after the emission of the documentary Conspiracy Theory: Did we land on the Moon? [*].
My opinion is that is was faked. My reasons:
1. They had the reason. The undeniable fact that the USSR was the first to send one man in space was a really strong hit on the american pride. Besides, the cuban missile crisis, growing conflict of Vietnam...made a lot of americans feel that the the war against comunism was not going as well as they were told.
2. They had the technology. Just consider that Stanley Kubrick's 2001. A Space Odyssey, was shot one year before the supossed Moon landing.
3. Russian were far ahead of the americans in terms of space race; this is confirmed by two facts: they were the first to send one man in space, and the americans were unable to develop one spatial station like MIR, until they joined for the ISS.
4. For three years (1969-1972) twelve men (inluding Armstrong) were claimed to arrive to the moon:
1. Neil Armstrong - Apollo 11 - July, 1969
2. Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin - Apollo 11 - July, 1969
3. Charles "Pete" Conrad - Apollo 12 - November, 1969
4. Alan Bean - Apollo 12 - November, 1969
5. Alan Shepard - Apollo 14 - February, 1971
6. Edgar Mitchell - Apollo 14 - February, 1971
7. David Scott - Apollo 15 - July, 1971
8. James Irwin - Apollo 15 - July, 1971
9. John Young - Apollo 16 - April, 1972
10. Charles Duke - Apollo 16 - April, 1972
11. Gene Cernan - Apollo 17 - December, 1972
12. Harrison Schmitt - Apollo 17 - December, 1972
But suddenly they stopped, and nobody has been there in the last 37 years!
5. The rumours about the faking of the landing started on the same moment. Already in 1978, Peter Hyams'
Capricorn One speculated about the hypothesis of one spatial landing been faked.
