The Sad Story of Ainara

Picture the scene: around the year 2000, in Spain, a man goes to the police and tell them an increible story. He says that around 30 years ago, he was a member of a cult. And that a couple that were also members of the cult, had a baby with the sole purpose of sacrificing her for the cult. The baby, a girl, was named Ainara, and she was, according this witness' account, sacrificed when she was only 14 months old.

The police opened an investigation, interviewed several alleged members of the cult, whose names the repentant had given them. According the news, it was proven that the couple had had a baby, but they baby disappeared. According the parents version, they were on a trip in the UK when the baby died. They buried her there and that is why they can't provide a death certificate...

But the police could not find any document proving that version.

According the repentant's version the murdered baby was buried in a forest near Lesaka, in the region of Navarra, but being such a small baby, and considering how a forest can change in 30 years (besides that probably the repentant didn't remember so precissely where the baby had been buried), make it very difficult for the body to be found.

There are two thoughts that came into my mind after knowing of such story... The first is how incredibly sad the story of this baby, this girl named Ainara, was. Born to be sacrificed by your own parents, only 14 months of life with parents that are absolute monters.

The second thought is about punishment. Seven years have passed since this story broke into the news. Nobody has been ever arrested or charged, and unfortunately, it is very unlikely it will ever happen. Not if the body of the girl is not found, which seems even more unlikely. So, there will hardly be human justice.

Now if you belive in God, you can be sure that these human monsters will be punished in the other life. But for those who don't believe, these criminals will never face justice. And that thought is maybe as horrible as the crime itself...
