Berlusconi on Sarkozy

"The Italian leader also denied, this time through a statement, that he hade told the U.S. ambassador in Rome, that the influence in Europe of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, "is in its twilight" and that "it is not same influence than a year ago", as evidenced by a leaked cable, broadcast from the U.S. Embassy in Rome, which refers to a statement made to Ambassador David Thorne by Berlusconi. At that meeting, Berlusconi's right hand man, secretary to the presidency, Gianni Letta, told the ambassador that the two leaders were "two dominant males" and that, therefore, both had to "occupy the political arena" because they were "like two very large dogs in the same cage.""
