"La agente responsable en Suecia de los interrogatorios policiales en el caso por delitos sexuales contra Julian Assange, fundador del portal WikiLeaks, es amiga de una de las denunciantes, informó hoy el diario "Expressen".
Comentarios personales en distintos foros y páginas de Internet revelan que las dos mujeres ya tenían contactos en abril de 2009, 16 meses antes de que el australiano Assange fuera denunciado en Suecia.

Las dos mujeres se conocen por su pertenencia al Partido Socialdemócrata, y la agente ha formado parte de la dirección de su grupo de homosexuales, bisexuales y travestis, según "Expressen".
En sus respectivos 'blogs' no han ocultado su amistad: el 10 de febrero, por ejemplo, la denunciante comentó una actualización del estado (en su cuenta de Facebook) de la policía, y en su página web hay un enlace al 'blog' privado de la otra.
En su página de la red social Facebook, la policía elogió por ejemplo hace un par de semanas al abogado de las denunciantes y describió a Assange como "la burbuja inflada lista para explotar".

¿Censura en Twitter?
Cuando estalló el escándalo de los cables filtrados por Wikileaks se produjó también un debate acerca de si Twitter estaba censurando la palabra Wikileaks de sus Trending Topics.
Hoy tenemos otro caso sospechoso: se acaba de anunciar que la justicia británica ha determinado que Julian Assange puede ser extraditado a Suecia. Los tweets sobre el tema han inunado Twitter. En consecuencia #Suecia y #Schweden se han convertido rápidamente en Trending Topic. Lo extraño es que #Assange (que apaerece en casi todos -por no decir todos- los tweets con el nombre del páis) no es Trending Topic, a pesar, además, del incremento que revela Trendistic.
Curioso, cuanto menos.

La voz de... ¿Barcelona?
Buscando información sobre Felip Puig he llegado a la página de "La voz de Barcelona" que sin duda debe ser la lectura de cabecera de todos los Ciutadanistas. Sus titulares entre el populismo y la doctrina del miedo (tema que espero tratar pronto y que tengo pendiente desde hace tiempo) son de los que gustan en ese colectivo.
De entre todas las noticias, la que más gracia me ha hecho, ha sido una noticia de Wikileaks sobre un cable donde la embajada estadounidiense de Madrid, realiza uno de sus habituales "copia y pega" de la prensa diaria: "La Embajada también destaca el Manifiesto por la Lengua Común (firmado por más de 100.000 personas); la victoria de la selección española en la Eurocopa (‘incluyendo a jugadores de todo el país’); las declaraciones de ERC “esperando que Alemania ganase a España en la final del campeonato”; ‘el entusiasmo en lugares como Barcelona por el éxito de la selección’; o que ’700 ciudadanos han realizado quejas formales a la asociación Galicia Bilingüe alegando diferentes formas de discriminación contra castellanohablantes’." Pero lo mejor llega con los comentarios, algunos verdaderas bromas:

"42 percent of Americans aren't sure what WikiLeaks is"
Really interesting and significative poll from CBS, "Is WikiLeaks Good, Destructive or Treason?":
"Just 9 percent think so [that Wikileaks is a good thing], while 45 percent view WikiLeaks negatively - though those people are divided as to whether or not the site is treasonous (22 percent) or simply destructive, but still legal (23 percent).

Republicans (36 percent) are more than twice as likely to think WikiLeaks is treasonous than either Democrats (15 percent) or independents (16 percent)."
My thought is, how can Wikileaks be "treasonous" if it is not even american?

Internet Revolutions
After the release of the Wikileaks cables, there was much controversy about the inminence of a cyber-war, that would confront the Government of the USA and its allies and the Wikileaks supporters. That "war" was not so, but a series of attacks to some companies that helped the US administration to financialy strangle Wikileaks.
But the collateral effects of the release of the cables has been undeniable: the fall of dictaro Ben Ali in Tunisia, and now the events that are taking place in Egypt and Yemen. These dictators have survived too many years, witht the support and complicity of the western governments, that thanked their help in the war against Al-Qaeda with silence about the crimes that they repeatedly commited in their countries.
But, hasn't this helpend the rise and growth of the islamists movements that, ironically, have presented themselves as "freedom fighters"?
On the other hand, we have the use that the promoters of these popular revolution have made of the new technologies proves that these are dangerous weapons for all fascists of the world (and not only in distant countries, but also in Europe and America).

Wikileaks & the Sword Hanging Over Someone's Head

Can you imagine the sweating that some of our "personalities" might be suffering? All these politics that give us lessons about how to overcome the crisis, all these artists that give us lessons on how to be more social?
But it is sure that this "transparency" won't be easy, nor free...

Wikileaks: The Tunisian Link
Many of us may have thought in the last days of how important has been the Wikileaks' cables release in the fall of Tunisia's dictator, Ben Ali.
This may be not the first internet promoted revolution, but the first internet detonated revolution [CNN], therefore many have called it the first Wikileaks revolution.
American Ambassador Godec wrote in one of the cables:
"Tunisia is a police state, with little freedom of expression or association, and serious human rights problems...
The problem is clear: President Ben Ali... and his regime have lost touch with the Tunisian people. They tolerate no advice or criticism, whether domestic or international." [thefirstpost]
Even the existence of corruption, known by everybody, exploded after the Wikileaks cables were released. [about.com]
Another interesting aspect of all this Wikileaks affaire is how big is the responsaibility of the American administration for hiding the crimes of many politicians around the world. Wouldn't this be a evident case of cover-up?

La ley que EEUU quería
"La Embajada de Estados Unidos en Madrid convirtió la lucha contra la piratería en Internet en una de las prioridades de su agenda en el periodo 2004-2010. Según se deduce de la lectura de más de 35 cables dedicados a la protección de los derechos de propiedad intelectual, las presiones empezaron a intensificarse a partir del año 2004, tras la llegada al Gobierno del socialista José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero y se vertebraron en torno a una lista negra, la Lista Especial 301 que elabora la oficina de Comercio estadounidense." Existen hasta 124 documentos entre los documentos filtrados por Wikileaks que incluyen las etiquetas: KIPR (Intellectual Property Rights -Derechos de Propiedad Intelectual) y SP de España.
La gran pregunta que se plantea es: ¿es está la mejor ley para España o para EEUU? Porque ya hemos visto en diversas ocasiones (gracias a los cables) que los diversos ministros españoles prefieren

Wikileaks
Para ellos somos como niños. Y uno de los adultos, tal vez voluntariamente, se ha dejado la puerta entreabierta, y hemos podido atisbar en el interior. Y a los que estaban en el interior no les ha gustado. Nos repiten que no hemos visto nada. Pero al mismo tiempo quieren castigar a quien nos aviso de que la puerta estaba abierta. Ahora esperan que nos olvidemos de lo que hemos visto.

Already in February 3, 2008, we wrote about the high probability that the one to blame for Madeleine McCann's death were her own parents, as the portuguese police department believed. In that time they have been wildly attacked by the brittish media, especially the tabloids, while the government kept silent.
Now we know that they shared the "portuguese" opinion that Madeleine's parents should be investigated, thanks (again) to the Wikileaks' cables:
"British police helped to "develop evidence" against Madeleine McCann's parents as they were investigated by Portuguese police as formal suspects in the disappearance of their daughter, the US ambassador to Portugal was told by his British counterpart in September 2007.

In a diplomatic cable marked confidential, the US ambassador reported: "Without delving into the details of the case, Ellis admitted that the British police had developed the current evidence against the McCann parents, and he stressed that authorities from both countries were working co-operatively."
The comments attributed to the ambassador appear to contradict the widespread perception at the time that Portuguese investigators were the driving force behind the treatment of the McCanns as suspects in the case." [The Guardian]

What We All Know...
...It is what we can now read in the cables released by Wikileaks. Already in December 24, 2009 we spoke about "The Moderate Islam of Bosnia".
The same year the american diplomacy had the same worries in mind, as shows this cable:
"Dans cette acception, un "bon" Bosniaque – croyant et conservateur – ne succombe pas aux faiblesses d'un "mauvais" Bosniaque, laïque et progressiste. Tel est le constat fait dans plusieurs télégrammes par l'ambassade américaine à Sarajevo, ces dernières années, obtenus par WikiLeaks et étudiés par Le Monde.
Les Etats-Unis, qui se sont beaucoup investis pour instaurer la stabilité dans les Balkans occidentaux, envisagent avec inquiétude l'hypothèse d'une partition ethnico-religieuse du pays, divisé en deux entités depuis les accords de paix de Dayton en 1995 : la Fédération croato-musulmane et la République des Serbes de Bosnie.
Cette crispation identitaire se manifeste par exemple par "une poussée pour introduire l'éducation religieuse islamique dans toutes les maternelles". Of course, we were never told this, because it would not be good for the world to know that the "innocent bosnians" are not so innocent, and that maybe the world helped the islamist take control of one european country...
Pfizer in Nigeria
One of the most shocking revelations of the Wikileaks documents are the ones relating to Pfizer movements in Nigeria. They are shocking not only because of the implications of what is shown, but also for the similarities for what "The Constant Gardener".
In 1996, an outbreak of measles, cholera, and bacterial meningitis occurred in Nigeria. Pfizer representatives traveled to Kano, Nigeria to administer an experimental antibiotic, trovafloxacin, to approximately 200 children. Local Kano officials report that more than 50 children died in the experiment, while many others developed mental and physical deformities. In 2001, families of the children, as well as the governments of Kano and Nigeria, filed lawsuits regarding the treatment. [Wikipedia]
"Pfizer was accused of hiring investigators “to uncover corruption links” to Nigeria’s former attorney general and apply pressure to drop lawsuits against the company over a controversial 1996 test of antibiotics on children with meningitis, according to a secret State Department cable that related a company official’s account." "In a free society, we are supposed to know the truth"
Republican Congressman Ron Paul has also defended the publication of the leaked cables on his Twitter feed, writing: “Re: Wikileaks – In a free society, we are supposed to know the truth. In a society where truth becomes treason, we are in big trouble.”
Politicians of the World: NTHNTF
Since Septemeber 11, 2001, our liberties have been constraint and reduced. The most visual and invasive example are the "body scanners".
There has been usually argueed by our politicians that if you don't have anything to hide, then you have nothing to fear, what is usually called "Nothing to hide, nothing to fear" (NTHNTF).
Why don't they apply the same theory to themselves? Or they do? Why do they fear so much that the citizens know what they do with their money?

Otro de los aspectos sorprendentes de las filtraciones de Wikileaks ha sido la inexistencia de repercusiones. Los poderes implicados en lo revelado en los "cables" se han limitado a dejar pasar las horas, como si nada sucediese.
Ahora la familia del cámara José Couso presentará una denuncia basándose en estas revelaciones. Habrá que ver cómo reacciona la fiscalía. Con los antecedentes mostrados en los cables, parecería gravísimo que la fiscalía simplemese ignorase la denuncia, sin siquiera investigarla.
