"Jacobo Árbenz Guzmán (Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, 14 de septiembre de 1913 – Ciudad de México, 27 de enero de 1971) militar y político guatemalteco. Presidente de Guatemala de 1950 a 1954. Electo democráticamente, fue derrocado por un golpe de Estado orquestado por la CIA de los Estados Unidos, que lo sustituyó por una junta de gobierno militar.

El 19 de febrero de 1954, la CIA comienza la Operación WASHTUB, un plan para plantar armas soviéticas falsas en Nicaragua que demostrarían los nexos de Guatemala a Moscú.

En mayo de 1954, armas checoslovacas arriban secretamente a Guatemala a bordo del barco sueco Alfhem. El manifiesto del buque esta falseado asimismo como su carga. Estados Unidos toma esto como prueba irrefutable de los nexos de Arbenz con los soviéticos. Los checoslovacos suministraron un arsenal de armas nazis de la Segunda Guerra mundial, por un pago efectivo hecho por la CIA.

El presidente estadounidense Eisenhower, citando la posibilidad del comunismo, se enfrentó a Árbenz. Ésta fue durante la guerra fría la excusa estadounidense para provocar golpes militares en Latinoamérica. El gobierno de Árbenz denunció el complot internacional para quitarlo del poder. Decretó entonces la suspensión de las garantías constitucionales y comenzó una persecución a los opositores del gobierno.

Con el apoyo de los Estados Unidos, el Teniente Coronel guatemalteco Carlos Castillo Armas invadió su propio país con tropas pertrechadas por Estados Unidos. La invasión fue respaldada por cuatro aviones norteamericanos que ganaron la guerra psicológicamente." [Wikipedia]

"Operation Cyclone was the code name for the United States Central Intelligence Agency program to arm, train, and finance the Afghan mujahideen during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, 1979 to 1989. The program leaned heavily towards supporting militant Islamic groups that were favored by neighboring Pakistan, rather than other, less ideological Afghan resistance groups that had also been fighting the Marxist-oriented Democratic Republic of Afghanistan regime since before the Soviet intervention. Operation Cyclone was one of the longest and most expensive covert CIA operations ever undertaken; funding began with $20–30 million per year in 1980 and rose to $630 million per year in 1987.

The U.S. government has been criticized for allowing Pakistan to channel a disproportionate amount of its funding to controversial Afghan resistance leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar,[38] who Pakistani officials believed was "their man".[39] Hekmatyar has been criticized for killing other mujahideen and attacking civilian populations, including shelling Kabul with American-supplied weapons, causing 2,000 casualties. William Walker and the Kosovo Verification Mission

"European diplomats then working for the OSCE claim it was betrayed by an American policy that made airstrikes inevitable. Some have questioned the motives and loyalties of William Walker, the American OSCE head of mission.

"The American agenda consisted of their diplomatic observers, aka the CIA, operating on completely different terms to the rest of Europe and the OSCE," said a European envoy.

Initially some "diplomatic observers" arrived, followed in October by a much larger group that was eventually swallowed up into the OSCE's "Kosovo Verification Mission".

Walker said: "Overnight we went from having a handful of people to 130 or more. Could the agency have put them in at that point? Sure they could. It's their job. But nobody told me."

Walker, who was nominated by Madeleine Albright, the American secretary of state, was intensely disliked by Belgrade . He had worked briefly for the United Nations in Croatia . Ten years earlier he was the American ambassador to El Salvador when Washington was helping the government there to suppress leftist rebels while supporting the contra guerrillas against the Sandinista government in Nicaragua .

Some European diplomats in Pristina, Kosovo's capital, concluded from Walker 's background that he was inextricably linked with the CIA. The picture was muddied by the continued separation of American "diplomatic observers" from the mission. The CIA sources who have now broken their silence say the diplomatic observers were more closely connected to the agency.

De colaboradora de Gainza y de la inteligencia USA, Ardin se metamorfoseó en "experta" en medios de comunicaciones suecos tales como Dagens Nyheter y SVT. Se convirtió luego en figura del gobernante partido Social-Demócrata."

Who Wanted to Kill the Pope?

On May 13, 1981, Mehmet Ali Ağca shot Pope John Paul II. Twenty eight years later still we don't know what really happened.

There have been many theories involving almost opossite interests. Russian secret service, bulgarian secret service, ultra-islamists, mafia... But as it happens in other maginicides (JFK, Robert Kennedy, Olof Palme...) a lot of facts remain in the darkness.

Referring to the attempt to kill the Pope, one really interesting point is always ignored, and it is the relation between Ağca and NATO and the CIA [Le Monde Diplomatique].

Let's remember that Ali Ağca was a member of the turkish ultra-nationalist organization Grey Wolves.

"According to Daniele Ganser, a researcher at the ETH Zürich University, the founder of the Grey Wolves, Alparslan Türkeş was a member of Counter-Guerrilla, the Turkish branch of Gladio, a stay-behind NATO anti-communist paramilitary organization which was supposed to prepare networks for guerrilla warfare in case of a Soviet invasion. Le Monde diplomatique confirms that the Grey Wolves were infiltrated and manipulated by Gladio, and that important Grey Wolves member Abdullah Çatlı had worked with Gladio. According to the same article, Abdullah Çatlı met with Italian international terrorist Stefano Delle Chiaie, who, aside from taking part in Italy' strategy of tension, also maintained links with Pinochet's DINA and participated in the Argentinian dirty war."

Ali Ağca, "On February 1, 1979 in Istanbul, under orders from the Grey Wolves, he murdered Abdi İpekçi, editor of a major Turkish newspaper Milliyet. He was caught due to an informant and was sentenced to life in prison. After serving six months, he escaped with the help of Abdullah Çatlı, second-in-command of the Grey Wolves and a prominent Gladio operative, and fled to Bulgaria, which was a base of operation for the Turkish mafia. According to investigative journalist Lucy Komisar, Mehmet Ali Ağca had worked with Abdullah Çatlı in this 1979 assassination, who "then reportedly helped organize Ağca's escape from an Istanbul military prison, and some have suggested Çatlı was even involved in the Pope's assassination attempt". According to Reuters, Ağca had "escaped with suspected help from sympathizers in the security services"."
